Every remarkable chef has a story.
Some begin in prestigious culinary schools. Others start in world-famous restaurants. Mine began around the family table in the Middle East, where food was more than nourishment—it was a language of love, generosity, and hospitality.
Today, that same philosophy lives on at Chef Abod Café & Catering in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Every dish we prepare carries with it decades of experience, cherished traditions, and a passion for bringing people together through exceptional food.
This is the story behind Chef Abod.

Where It All Began
Growing up in the Middle East meant growing up surrounded by extraordinary food.
The kitchen was the heart of the home. Every meal was prepared with patience, fresh ingredients, and recipes that had been passed down through generations. The aromas of cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, za'atar, sumac, roasted garlic, and freshly baked bread filled our home daily.
But what left the greatest impression on me was not only the food.
It was the hospitality.
Guests were always welcomed with warmth. No one left the table hungry, and every meal became an opportunity to create lasting memories. Those early experiences taught me a lesson that still guides my business today:
People may forget what they ate, but they never forget how you made them feel.
From Passion to Professional Excellence
My passion eventually became my profession.
Over the years, I dedicated myself to mastering both traditional Middle Eastern cuisine and international culinary techniques. Every kitchen I worked in became another classroom, every mentor another source of inspiration, and every challenge another opportunity to improve.
One of the greatest honours of my career was serving as the personal chef to a member of the Saudi Royal Family.
Cooking at this level required absolute perfection. Every meal demanded flawless execution, exceptional ingredients, attention to detail, and complete consistency.
There was no room for shortcuts.
That experience taught me that true luxury isn't about expensive ingredients—it's about precision, passion, and delivering excellence every single time.

Leading Large Culinary Operations
Later, I accepted the role of Executive Chef at a prestigious four-star hotel in Bahrain.
Leading a professional kitchen meant far more than creating recipes.
It meant training teams, designing international menus, managing large-scale banquets, controlling food quality, and ensuring that hundreds of guests enjoyed an unforgettable dining experience.
Whether preparing an intimate dinner or a banquet for hundreds, I learned one important truth:
Every guest deserves the same level of care and respect.
That philosophy remains the foundation of Chef Abod Café & Catering today.
A New Beginning in Canada
More than twenty years ago, I chose Canada as my new home.
Starting over in a new country wasn't easy.
The ingredients were different.
The seasons were different.
The culture was different.
But one thing never changed:
My passion for sharing authentic food.
When I arrived in Halifax, I saw an incredible opportunity—not simply to recreate Middle Eastern cuisine, but to introduce Atlantic Canada to the warmth, generosity, and rich flavours of our culinary heritage.
Today, Halifax has become home, and I am proud to serve one of Canada's most welcoming communities.
